He always uses the speaker phone when he is on a conference call.  He also uses a telephone rec order during the conference call.  I have asked him why he just does not take notes during the call since your hands are free when using the speaker phone.  He just says by using the telephone recorder he does not miss a thing and can review the conference call at anytime.  I have tried to open his eyes to new technology but he refuses to stop using is speaker phone and telephone recorder during his conference call.
